Welcome to The Barkington, Wimington’s only custom luxury pet hotel, fully indoor day camp, Spa, and more! The owners of The Barkington are strong believers that our fur friends are more than just pets, they are our #1 supporters, best friends, and sometimes even therapists.

The Barkington is locally owned and founded by a Wilmington couple with a powerful love for animals. Their previous years of experience managing a pet boarding facility has enabled them to create their ideal facility where pet owners could be completely at ease.

The Barkington understands how important quality of care is so we carefully select our care team to provide the most attention to detail. We also understand how important communication with pet owners is as well. You can count on us for the absolute best experience for you and your pet!

QUALIFIED STAFF

Each care team members is carefully selected and required to complete extensive training. We educate on the basics in dog behavior, safe group play behaviors, basic first aid, medication administration, safe supervising, and more! Many of our team members are veterinary assistants or have acquired many years of experience caring for animals. We are committed to providing your pet the very best care, you can trust us!

SAFE & HAPPY ENVIRONMENT

Unlike any facility in the area we have a fully indoor 3,500 sq foot day camp are that is separated into FIVE areas so our staff can carefully assess and place your dog in a group where they will feel most happy and comfortable. We even provide a late-night potty/exercise break around 10pm so you can be sure your pet will be properly monitored and cared for at all hours of the night. Our facility is equipped with safety cameras, and an entire perimeter fence IN ADDITION to a 6 ft fence inside the perimeter fence for maximum security. While this doesn’t happen often and we would rather not, we do reserve the right to add a charge for the destruction of our hotel rooms of equal or lesser value of repair price.

We encourage all owners to check in to our social media for daily photos and videos but we also want you to know we are here for you! Please call us anytime during operating hours for an update on your pet. We are open a full 7 days per week so that we can be fully available for our pet parents. We aim to be transparent and overly communicative with each and every pet parent because we understand the love!

Vaccines & Age
Requirements:

The Barkington requires that all of our canine guests are up to date on the following vaccinations:

Rabies – Current in the last year for puppies and past year to 3 years for adults depending on the vaccination provided
DHPP – Current in the last year for puppies and past year to 3 years for adults depending on the vaccination provided.
Bordetella – Current in the last year, or 6 months depending on the vaccination provided.
